Parts aren't interchangeable between the 360 and 361, but most parts from 034's, 036's will fit MS360's Both have about the same power, the 361 feels a little heavier and I think has a little more power. Check it over carefully, getting long in the tooth. 361="better" anti-vibe and fairly good reliabilty reputation, a good one had more umf then a typical 360. Main issue around here was ignition modules failing.

Main differences would be the anti vibe being springs on the 361 and rubber on the 360. The cylinder design is different in terms of transfers being 4 in the 361 and 2 in the 360. Different type of air filter design, muffler design, etc..

WEBNov 18, 2012 · I prefer the MS 361, four port design, imho the 361 will out cut the 360's although the 360 is a very nice saw and should last a person a lifetime of cutting personal firewood. The 362 is a whole different animal being a strato design, a well broke in MS 362 in stock configuration will definetly outperform the 361 and 360.

If you are going with a one saw plan and getting into 24" wood, the 362 is the obvious choice. 50cc saws are nice, but only if you have a 70cc+ saw to handle the bigger stuff. A 60cc saw is a good one saw plan for most users, a 50cc is not.
